Richard Dev Greene is excited about his new musical direction. The long time singer
& guitarist of PALE MOON GANG has just released his first single as a solo artist.
Not only that, the new track, FACT AND FICTION, is an acoustic ballad - just vocal
and guitar. A drastically different sound from the churning & grinding electric
guitars and streetwise vocals heard on PALE MOON GANG records.
There have been recent hints of a new musical phase for RDG. He spent 2018-2019 on
tour as lead singer & guitarist for the reformed PLIMSOULS. A band whose songs have
always leaned toward more romantic subject matter. He's also been writing &
producing duete tracks with Caite O'Riordan of THE POGUES. A few of these songs were
recently debuted live when PALE MOON GANG and Caite's band BITCHFACE shared a bill.
FACT AND FICTION is only the first single from an upcoming EP of acoustic ballads
    Richard's been working on.
Ever since his mom took him to see Elvis Presley at Madison Square Garden when he
was 10 years old, Richard's wanted to sing on stage. Elvis was his first live
concert experience. The next two, THE ROLLING STONES and DAVID BOWIE had an equally
powerful impact on his developing musical imagination. There were various possible
musical directions he might have taken, however, having been born and raised in
Manhattan, he was soon exposed to the new, exciting punk rock scene and was captured
    by it.
As a 12 year old Catholic school boy he'd frequent the local record shop where he'd
buy vinyl from a cat who looked like he'd been booted from THE SPIDERS FROM MARS for
dressing "too glam"! In the back of the shop, his co-worker, tall, pale ,clad in
black, sold vintage singles. He resembled SUN era Elvis. That is if Elvis had signed
a contract in blood with Bela Lugosi instead of Colonel Parker! Although Richard was
slightly intimidated by these glamorous freaks, he was also intrigued by their weird
charisma. These two record shop characters were Bryan Gregory and Lux Interior. A
few years later, Richard would instantly recognize them as THE CRAMPS when he saw
them on the corner of 77th & 2nd avenue picking through a trash pile of clothes,
searching for bits of glamorous garb to wear at their next show. This scene looms
large in RDG's memories of his teenage obsession with rock'n'roll. Such was the grit
    and glamour of 1970's Manhattan.
Within 5 years Greene's first band PALE FACE OF YOUTH would find themselves opening
for THE CRAMPS at The Peppermint Lounge. Soon, PALE FACE was spotted playing CBGB by
a booking agent, and was offered an opening spot for THE CLASH. They were so well
received, they were offered two more gigs on what turned out to be THE CLASH's
farewell tour. This honor led to opening slots for other legends like THE RAMONES,
    P.I.L. and BILLY IDOL.
